With the recent changes in the ADU (Accessory Dwelling Unit) laws throughout California, Berkeley Little House strives to make it even easier for a homeowner to build an in-law unit.

We have developed an elegant, proven, engineered set of plans in three sizes and three designs – one of which is perfect for your backyard.  Or, if you want a custom design, or an integral addition to your existing home, we can do that as well.

Options

Here at Berkeley Little House, we have three standard size bungalows to choose from.  A two bedroom 750 square foot house, a one bedroom 550 square foot house and a 400 square foot studio.  Of course we can develop anything in between as well.

There are three base styles to choose from.  A Berkeley bungalow with cedar shingles and craftsman design elements, a Mediterranean with stucco siding, radius corner interior details and Spanish style cues, and a modern/industrial with smooth Santa Barbara finish stucco, standing seam metal roof and clean recessed vertical grain wood trim inside.  Custom styles to more match your existing house or personal style are also available.

Concept

A simple concept – 3 sizes, 3 designs with a fixed cost for each.  If your property meets our list of criteria such as a level site and being outside of a slide zone, then we can design, engineer, permit and build an ADU in your backyard at a fixed price with no up-charges, change orders or any hidden costs.  And we can do all this much quicker than ever before due to the changes in the local ADU permitting requirements and already having plans and preliminary structurals ready to go.

We also do offer full custom designs to meet whatever your requirements may be and we will do our best to manage expectations, keep all costs up front and minimize any surprises.
